WTF: why don't they just make courses a week long. that's how long it takes me to learn the material before an exam, and we could all be done university in one term.

    because then they wouldn't have a reason to justify charging $500 per course.

    You do really believe you learn nothing until the last week? And do you really believe that if this was the case the suicide rate wouldn't be through the roof?

    Simple experiment, take the course notes for whatever course you're taking, in the first week of class, cram through the course and do a honest to god practice exam, hand it over to a course tutor who's kind enough to mark it for you.

    Repeat at the end of the term.

    If you're one of those students who does not go to class or do any work, you should have the same result either way, otherwise going to classes will have an effect.

    Rather lame and pointless but worth a try nonetheless.

    I've given it a shot, tried to do assignments/labs before the term started, but that never seems to work out, and these are not bird courses either.
