WTF: Every week I pick up a copy of the Imprint and fail to read a full article. I start falling asleep halfway through anything that seems even remotely interesting.

  3. I disagree. There's one writer whose articles I always read from start to finish. I forget her name, but she's the cute one who wrote about how she was in a relationship with "Herself" on Facebook. It's a shame she's taken, hahaha.

  5. ^ okay, i wouldn't go THAT far. grammar and writing has a tendency to be pretty shit here.

  6. i actually like IMPRINT, I always read that sex column and a few others

  7. But the sex and relationship columns are stupid! Even I can write articles about my experiences with relationships! I don't need some girl telling me that long distance relationships never last.

    Seriously, it's complete shit.

  10. one man's meat is another man's poison. I've always enjoyed reading articles by E. Aboyeji (something like that).

  12. they do commercial inserts, full-page ads, front-page ads, pack-page ads, YET they make us pay the fee? For something that is
    A) fuckin DULL
    B) bad quality
    C) is not even regular!!! how many fridays were just skipped because - oh wow - it was holidays/break and their staff had nothing to write about

  13. Totally agree! They also get the nicest office in SLC! Why? I don't even know where the CORD's office is, but surely not in the middle of student life premises, or with huge-ass glamourous windows!:)))

  14. i only take their newspapers because they always seem to print wayyy in surplus, and it's such a waste of paper, even if it's recycled. no one reads them. i use imprint to line dirty tables.

  15. ^Amazing!

A few weeks ago during one of the downpours outside, I saw a guy legitimately using a copy of the Imprint as an umbrella. I wanted to chase him down and tell him how much I loved him for it.

  16. Imprint's good for the crossword and comics. :)

  17. Even the comics aren't remotely funny :(

  18. ^ yeah, except this site isn't made of one individual. every now and again people complain, or commiserate. get over it.

  20. Okay, to the guy who said they take ranodm weeks off.. they don't. They stop right before exams, and usually take reading week off. In the summer they go bi weekly. Just wanted to clear that up (and no, I don't work for imprint.)

Now, I don't hate imprint, I just think that it could be so much more. The Cord is a good role model.. It's actually a NEWSPAPER. The imprint has become a MAGAZINE on newsprint. It's just ugly and too busy and the overall design discourages people from reading.

The articles are basically all opinions pieces based on whatever the writer wants to write about, with maybe one or two actual news articles put it.

  22. not a fan of it like most.

but you know that this is a student paper right?

  23. I am a friend of one of the columnists for Imprint, and they wrote some of the best articles in there. The reason they left was because of poor editing and lack of professionalism. So hey - even the writers agree. At least, the ones who left.

    ReplyDelete
  24. yeah the editing really sucks. sometimes if you submit an article, it can actually get printed with even MORE grammatical and spelling mistakes than it had before.

  25. One time I saw a whole row of sdjsaldasdobsadoaojsdasp in the middle of an article. There's no way the writer put that in there, so I'm logging that as editor = fail x2. Once for just sucking and the other for making it worse.
