WTF: Does withholding sex to prove a point actually work?

  1. Depends on the point you are trying to make.
I find when I'm reeeaaaally pissed off, the silent treatment works best.

  2. Only if the point you're trying to prove is "I REALLY want you to cheat on me."

    That's a joke.

But on a more serious note, as a guy, sex should be a mutual activity that you and your girlfriend (I'm assuming from your context that you're in a relationship), enjoy together. It's not a privilege or a reward.

I literally ended a relationship three months in (it was pretty rocky up to that point, but this was the final straw), because she said, "Why are you so upset? I gave you sex!" Referring to the activities of the past hour.

Any guy with half a spine wouldn't stick around with a girl so confused about sex.

It's one thing to not want to be intimate because you're mad about something and you feel that he hasn't taken it seriously, or that he's belittling the issue. It's a WHOLE other ballgame to try and use sex as a bargaining chip, reward, conditioning method, (I'm not in social sciences, so my points are probably poorly worded), or anything like that.

    Hope this helps!

PS, I'd end a relationship with a girl for silent treatment also. Communication isn't only the best tool for relationship conflict resolution, it's the ONLY tool. Anything else is just playing stupid drama queen games, and that earns her an express ticket into the discarded vagina bin, and I'd probably think a lot less of her than I had previously. I have zero tolerance for drama.
PPS, I'm happily in a longterm relationship, and my girlfriend agrees with all of these points.

  3. i tried it once, and it's a lose lose situation. he still doesn't get the point (if the point has nothing to do with sex directly) and no one gets laid.

  4. I agree one hundred percent with the second poster. I was once in a relationship, and she just didnt understand communication and viewed sex as a commodity, it shouldnt be that!

  5. Hugo's girlfriend is a lucky girl. A man that communicates his feelings so well is a rarity!
