WTF: I hate how WTFUW isn't very protective of people's identity. It might be very hurtful to some whn they a post about themselves.

    This is an issue we have been discussing internally since the start. We do not like personal attacks on our site either. They do not represent the UW community well.

    It certainly makes sense to filter out names when we receive WTFs, but the line becomes blurred when the person is in a very visible public position and is well known to all students. Using the previous WTF as an example, everyone already knows who the FEDS president is. That's part of his job. So that raises the issue of how we can protect people in these sorts of positions without completely censoring the posts we receive. This is where the grey area starts.

    Please leave your suggestions in the comments and we will make changes based on how the majority feels the site should be run.

    good point. I wouldn't want the newspaper attacking me, but by taking on a public figure position it's a given that people will have opinions on actions that affect them outside of personal life.

    I say let them stay.

    Obviously you don't want your site to facilitate libel, but the issue is in the nature of the post, not the disclosure of the individual to whom the attack was intended.

    Censorship = bullshit.
