  1. I doubt any one person can be responsible the way you are making it sound. Cool off, he has a tough job and I'm sure he's not deliberately trying to piss anyone off. And personal attacks like 'nobody likes you' makes your arguments against him seem very immature.

  2. Did anyone read that article in Imprint this week about people thinking it's ok to say stupid things just because it's anonymous? I didn't agree with it for OMG UW, but after following WTF UW I think we're letting this get out of hand. It used to be about silly or trivial annoyances, not personal attacks. There has to be some filtering to protect people's feelings especially when the comments posted are completely unfounded and jerkish.

  3. Except our dear FEDS president is in the public sphere of influence. Anyone who presents themselves to the public sphere is fair game.

  4. @2:
No shit. Haven't you ever seen /b/? There's no way things can keep going smoothly anonymously

  5. So nobody misses this:

This is an issue we have been discussing internally since the start. We do not like personal attacks on our site either. They do not represent the UW community well.

It certainly makes sense to filter out names when we receive WTFs, but the line becomes blurred when the person is in a very visible public position and is well known to all students. Using the previous WTF as an example, everyone already knows who the FEDS president is. That's part of his job. So that raises the issue of how we can protect people in these sorts of positions without completely censoring the posts we receive. This is where the grey area starts.

Please leave your suggestions in the comments and we will make changes based on how the majority feels the site should be run.

  6. I agree that people in the sphere of public influence are fair game for direct criticism. But there is a line between criticism and straight insults. I'm not the biggest fan of Allan myself, but I would never personally insult someone like that in a public setting such as this. I would criticize his leadership skills and his effectivness as Feds Pres, but personal attacks are a little bit much.

Hopefully you Mods will agree with my point.

  7. In all fact, people do like Babor. I think he can live with that as he was voted into office

  8. I'm not down with personal attacks either but with stupid shit like "stfu nobody likes you" it's not hard to just brush your shoulders off and ignore it. The thing about anonymity is that without a person behind all the stuff on here, it's all just words. Rise above, y'all.

  11. this is more of a personal attack, which i do not think should be posted here (since I would be insulted if I was allan), compared to a criticism which i think should be allowed.

  12. The majority seems to be in favour of censoring this post. WTF UW will edit this post.
