WTF: Why does every girl want a serious relationship or want to get married? You girls are young and beautiful so you should enjoy single life as much as you can before you decide to get settled. long term relationships tend to get boring REAL fast.

  1. I think it's the other way around, most girls just wanna fool around...it sucks cause most girls really don't want a serious relationship, and some guys do want so...yeah

  2. Call me crazy but I am one of those girls that wants a long term relationship. In fact I don't want to date 'just for fun' because I feel like'd just be wasting my time and I might miss my opportunity to be with someone that really cares about me.

  3. I don't want to get married... $75 000 on ONE NIGHT can be better spent...

  4. i totally agree with OP, our flesh will only be tight and attractive for maybe another 10 or 15 years, and by then end of those 10-15 years you better be on your way finding someone to stay with you when your looks are gone

but hey, you're 19 now... your life isn't that difficult (with the exception to it being exam time) so lighten up and get laid

  5. Not so much long-term relationships, but meaningful ones. Eventually you get tired of soulless flings.

  6. The majority of the WTF's on this site have to do with people stressing out over dating/relationships/etc. It seems we young people are making our lives so much more stressful than it already is by playing the "dating game". If that's the alternative to serious relationship seeking, then dating "just for fun" is not for me.

  7. I have stopped dating as I was sick of dealing with the hook-up and break-up cycle. Now THAT gets old fast!

I find long term relationships much more fufilling.

  9. OP here,
Thanks for all the comments, they're all very thoughtful.
I have experienced two long term relationships, and I longed to be single the whole time because both bfs wanted to get married.
I think I feel that way because I used to live in France and over there women are very liberated. They don't date because they want to get married, they don't even care about that. They don't need men in their lives to feel complete.
What I am trying to say is that women in North America are pressurized to get married because apparently they can only be happy after they have a significant other; they can't be happy on their own. And men are encouraged to be pimps so women think they can't find a man if they're not young and beautiful (encouraged and pressurized by the media? probably)

You don't need anyone else to be happy!

  10. I agree with OPs last comment. I hate how so many girls only feel fulfilled when there's a man there to offer them encouragement for every decision they need to make. Its the whole syndrome from "Hes Just Not That Into You". Why do we take so much value from the label of being or not being in a relationship??

I've been in a relationship for the past 2 and a half years, and I love it and am ridiculously happy. But I loved being single as well.... I think its more of a matter of being happy with yourself...

  11. True say OP, 4:05 here and I didn't really consider the option of staying single. With that being said, I think that if you plan on a long term relationship later in life, then "recreational dating" is going to give you problems long term. Think about it, the hook-up/break-up cycle isn't preparing you to be commited to one person "for better or for worse", in fact it's teaching you to bail when things become inconvenient or when somebody new catches your eye. Thus I think recreational dating sets you up for divorce in the long term, on top of the short-term stress that you see in many of this site's WTF posts.

  12. I am a man and my goal in life is to create a family. In fact, procreation is what I exist for as a human.

Education, Career, Earnings - I bust my ass to succeed in all these things ONLY because I want to earn enough to provide good living to my children so that they can be raised capable of providing good living to their children - and so on and so on.

I do NOT bust my ass in order to be able to please or enjoy myself, or "live freely", or spend money on useless things that an "independent" life consumes.

So having said that, I do not care a tiny bit about those women who "do not need men in their lives to be complete" (OP quote), or women who hesitate about the meaning of family, or women who feel compelled to strive for "independence".

Nothing turns me more than a woman who exhibits passion for family, love for kids, and companionship skills.

To me, short-term, NSA, "free" relationships are just examples of meaningless waste of time.

And so to every feminism-poisoned girl who declares "I am not looking for anything serious in the observable future" I would say this - Screw you, step aside and let me venture for a REAL woman.

  13. Although i agree with your post, 7:09, I think "feminism-poisoned" is a bit harsh. To me, feminism is about equality, nothing more or less. On that note, I know that in my life I really want to have a family of my own (but this means sharing household chores with my man, not being a maid!)

  14. .....wow, 7:09. @_@

i agree with 7:18, feminism is about trying to get the equality between the genders that doesn't currently exist. it's not about trying to live life lavishly, or using all this relatively new independence women enjoy to be selfish.

with that said, your goals and motivation seem to be admirable and selfless, however, not everyone has the same values as you. people can still live life selflessly and to its fullest without doing everything with the end-goal of procreation in mind.

also, we're still in university, and for many of us we are not out in the "real world" yet; let people have their fun if they want.

(might i ask what ethnicity you are/ what culture you come from? i'm just curious.)

  15. My "feminism punch" was directed at its current bloated state, by which so many young women decide that they "do not need a man to feel complete".

I'm all for equal gender roles in all aspects of the society, but I'm against the rebellious exaggeration of feminism.

As for me, I never feel complete without a woman, so why should a woman desire the opposite? I wish the society would scale down the acceleration of rebellious feminism and focus on the traditional values.

    Cheer up ;)

  16. if you are incomplete you aren't ready to date! you need to find a whole to match your whole, not a half for your half!

    ReplyDelete
  17. that's just an interesting metaphor, 8:08, which has little to do with real life.

Don't be living in a poem, my friend! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  18. i agree with that. if you aren't happy with yourself, you probably won't be happy with the added complications of being in a serious relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  19. or ready to handle the responsibilities and complications of a relationship, rather.

  20. Good point, but nobody said he wasn't happy with himself.

"feeling incomplete" is a vague notion, but it does NOT mean feeling bad about own character.

  25. OP here again

5:12, you're smart. Your post made me think about my relationships. I've bailed on both of my long term guys & it wasn't pretty. I bailed because I didn't think I was ready to be committed to one guy for the rest of my life when there are so many hot guys around me. Also, I didn't wanna move in with anyone, I like living alone. I had no idea what I was doing with my career, so I didn't want any of these things to interfere with my LTR/marriage and cause problems.

7:09, your post is cute! But I wasn't talking about the kind of woman you are talking about. It's awesome & healthy for both men and women to want a family etc. I was talking about the girls who are not ready for relationships but THINK they are; girls that doubt their beauty, abilities, personality, because a certain guy doesn't like them; girls who throw away their future to be with someone who doesn't even want marriage or LTR; etc.
If both the guy and the girl are on the same page, marriages and relationships can be great.

But people shouldn't complain because they're not getting married or can't find bf/gf cuz they will be spending 30+ years with their SO so a few years (uni years) of fun (and NOT longing for a bf/gf) won't hurt at all!

  26. ive had two, two year relationships. now that ive been single for a while i realise, that hookups get old fast. its fun to date around and not be attached to someone all the time, but having someone who cares about you genuinely beats all. i don't think theres anything wrong with that. i dont want to get married anytime in the near future, but id like a guy to be interested in me and care about me again, rather than just wanting sex occasionally.
