  2. Actually, my sister and her boyfriend have permanent residences in different continents but they're still together. And he's actually here for Christmas, which is technically his summer.

They've been together for about 2 and a half years now.

And I have many other examples of where they are working. Sometimes it's not the distance that's the problem, it's the people.

  3. I've maintained a quasi - LDR throughout University (co-op placements) and now my SO is in another country as I finish up my degree. They can work, you just need time, hard work, trust, and money. Distance will just kill an already unstable relationship.

  4. long distance relationships can work.
i think people just blame long distance for other problems they had in their relationship (for example, lack of trust). my boyfriend and i survived long distance. i think long distance is really a make-or-break thing. if you were meant to last, you will. if you break up, you probably would have eventually anyways

  6. I absolutely agree with the three posts above.

We're about to hit four years and are doing better than we ever have. We'll be marrying the summer after I graduate.

We made a decision early on to not use the distance as an excuse. It's forced us to be more aware of problems. Because we're far apart, we've gotten very good at communication and we've found ways to spend quality time together.

In our case, the long distance has made for a stronger relationship. This is just a small amount of time in the big picture. It's hard and really sucks sometimes, but if a little bit of struggle isn't worth it in the long run, then you shouldn't be together anyway.

Besides, when you find someone you want to marry, breaking up over distance is just stupid.

  7. i spent a year in a long distance relationship then decided to leave me for another girl who he would be in another long distance relationship with once he came home a month later. they're fucked up. i'm never getting involved in one again.

  8. I'm going on 1.5 years LDR with my fiance and it's going fine. Like someone said in an earlier post, it's not the distance that will break you up, it's the relationship itself. You'll also learn how to get the best seat sales for flights :)
