WTF: Is anyone else in Honours Science? What the hell am I doing with my life?

  1. I am! Preparing for med school or pharmacy. Honours science gives more flexibility in choosing courses :)

  2. I am too...I'm in 4th year and still have no idea what I am going to do with my life.

  3. ok, honours science student. If i were you i'd get out of the program if you don't enjoy it. Remember, you can still apply to med school with a regular degree as long as you have the prereq science courses. Don't stay in it just b/c you want to go to med school.

  4. OP here. I'm in third year after having dropped out of Biochem because I couldn't stand the course load or labs. I was going to switch into Biomed but I don't have the GPA or ability to pass Organic to do the whole med school competition thing. Now that I can take whatever I want I'm a lot less stressed/depressed and am actually kind of enjoying university for once, but I don't know what I'm going to do when I actually get the degree.

  5. 10:45 I'm in the exact same position except I'm graduating in 2010. Right now my plan is to go to another university to study something I actually am interested in (it is something not related to science at all), and go from there.

  6. Damn that sucks. Hopefully you can play up some of the courses you liked and get into a legit job/master's program. :(

  7. If you think you're getting into med school and your average is less than 85, you're kidding yourself. If it's over 85 and you don't do a ton of extracurriculars (job, volunteering, etc.), you're also kidding yourself.

  8. 8:37; not true at all... people can get into med school with high 70's - low 80's. It's all about how well you do in the pre-req courses.
