  2. okay, i predict we'll get comments with people calling engineers douchebags, and then engineers will come in saying we should stop hatin' on them and that we're just jealous cuz they'll be making so much money. and then maybe some girls will comment saying that they only date engineers, and then some guys will come in saying that engineers have small dicks.

  4. I like engineers and I'm in another faculty (and no, I do not only date engineers).

Sure, they are cocky... but they are in the hardest undergraduate program, on top of this school being engineer based, would you expect any other attitude from them?

Another thing, engineers make the highest salaries compared to other undergraduates... not the majority of the population. They will have an average of $85 000... that is not a lot of money.

Another thing, they are not going to be ANYONE'S boss. If they don't know that, they will find out AFTER they graduate and have been in the career world for a few years. If they work at firms, they will be working for someone else... and if they think that the ring on job sites is going to make them big shots, they have another thing coming. In the construction world, they are just educated idiots. I'm not trying to knock them down, I just know this from experience.

  5. all i know is that the douchiness ratio at the engineering buildings is higher than in any other place...

  6. I as a mathie dated an engineer and loved it.

  7. not in engineering and I have no beef with them...

also just to point out the douchey ones just tend to be the loudest ones which is not a fair representation of an entire faculty...

  8. Yeah there are so many engineers that I am friends with who are great people. It's the few loudmouths that make people believe all engineers are like that.

And I don't feel being in that program gives them reason to be douchebags. I don't excuse douchebag behaviour.

I know a few engineers who were really cocky in school, but they hate their lives now and wish they had never become engineers :\

  9. They only engineers I know are the ones from high school. They only started being d-bags after they came here. They also like to rub the fact Planning is "useless", despite the fact every city, town, region has them. And that it's my job to tell them what to do (civil, anyway)...

  10. i try to not judge people by their major. sure there are some wonderful d-bags in the faculty of engineering... but guess what every faculty has d-bags. there are some engineers that i like and there are some that i don't. oh and i'm a math major

  11. Plus if you go to convocation, the douchebag to non-douche ratio is a LOT lower than first and second year engineering. The douchey, cocky ones just don't make the cut a lot of the time in any faculty, not just engineering.

  12. see even the nice ones will still have a condescending attitude about the work you do... even if they don't bring it up, they have it in thier mind that they're better than you

  13. I wouldn't mind engineers so much if they weren't so cocky and arrogant.

Why do they seriously feel the need? Do they not realize that OTHER degrees can offer decent jobs with great wages, some that even pay higher than those jobs that require an Engineering degree? Do they not realize that other degrees, such as those in Computer Science, Enivironmental Studies, Social Sciences, and Applied Health Sciences, can actually teach you a LOT about the real world, and thus are worth the time and the money? In addition, do they not realize that some people pursue university for personal satisfaction, and that they are cannot automatically be considered "dumb" just because they chose to pursue Arts? I know several very smart people in "dumb" programs that Engineers would typically snort at.

I think it's rather pathetic that some students in such a prestigious program feel the need to immaturely bash other programs. What use does it do??

  14. ENGINEERS ARE COOL AND TOTALLY BETTER THAN YOU

  15. At most schools, all other faculties tend to dislike the engineers.

At Waterloo, most are too introverted to be obnoxious though, and they make up a large portion of the campus, that most people have at least a few engineering friends who aren't losers.

  16. i'm in engineering and i can't stand to be around most of the ppl in my (relatively) small class. they just take themselves and everything way too seriously, or are always stressed and grumpy. you chose the program, be happy about it or move on out!

  17. I know a lot of douchebaggy engineers, but that's probably why I hang around mathies more (I'm Soft Eng, so I'm in both faculties...)

That said, people tend to think I'm cocky for some reason or another.
