WTF: I just wrote a joke of an honours math exam (it didn't even require any proofs) since the classes this term haven't been performing well. It's probably a good thing considering I didn't study until late the night before. However, I feel really ripped off. Why should this term's exam be easier than the last season's just because we haven't been doing so hot?

  7. Honours math is for students in the math faculty. If you're in math, you can expect your exams and assignments to be at least a little more in depth than their science or engineering equivalents, and a lot more in depth than ones for other programs.

I think the point here is that if you're taking honours math courses you should expect them to be a little more difficult/more theoretical than their engineering or science counter parts. The fact that there was no proofs probably means there was very little theory on the exam and a lot applied questions... which is kind of against the point of honours math. Calculation is for engineers.

  8. you shouldve just said math instead of sounding like a pretentious douche bag op. you should be happy there werent any proofs. proofs are for those pmaths kids who arent gonna be able to anything after they graduate.

  9. A correction for you T!m, calculation is for mediocre engineers.

  10. 10:28 ... proofs are for people who have a deep understanding of the concepts, the same people who will become the best of the best mathematicians, physicists, and engineers. I'll admit, however, OP does sound rather pretentious.
