well you see my friend, depression is always just a phase.. some last longer than others so theres no telling when it will be over, but when it is you'll laugh and feel embarassed about wanting to end your life prematurely. My philosophy is: the more bad things you have to deal with in life, the stronger you become. So don't sweat not having any friends or failing courses or having no money because all you have to do is hang in there, and when it's all over you'll be stronger and will be able to do much more than someone who hasn't had to face these problems before. Being able to deal with not having any friends is a great skill to have, don't underestimate it. So don't get hung up on that, just cope and in the end you'll be much better off. Failing classes happens, not much you can do now about what happened, but remember even if you fail everytime you take a course, the only thing that matters is that you keep trying and give it your all. You've got an entire life ahead of you so don't worry about the mistakes you've made in the past, just work on not making them again.
More people care about you than you think, doing something stupid like killing yourself would only hurt the people you love and it is never the answer. No matter how badly you fuck up you can always work your way back from it.
Also keep in mind that during the winter there is much less sunlight, and a lack of sunlight has been directly related to depression. So if this is something that has just been going through your head recently I would put my money on it being a seasonal thing.
I also commend 6:23, but I believe in a point of no return in life. OP's life sounds shit. I would probably kill myself if I lead that existence too. They apparently don't succeed at anything.
the only "point of no return" is if you murder someone and get hauled off to jail for the rest ofyour life.. THEN you can kill yourself.. otherwise i'd say there is no limit to when you can turn your life around
I am one who was in a very similar place. Depressed, suicidal, failing most courses, relationships in the hole, etc. I am doing so much better these days, 3 or 4 years later. It's crazy, man. Believe me, better days will come if you just hang in there. And I can confirm virtually everything 6:23 said, having been there myself. More people care about you than you realize. And if you live through it, you will likely end up a much stronger person, as I have.
Posting on here is a good thing, you are reaching out to people, and as you can see, people care. Hey, if you wanna talk with me, just add me on msn, or send email: emman at e-arsenal.net
I was in this exact position just under a year ago. I never thought I would make it. But I stuck it out and things have been getting slowly, steadily getting better.
I'm not going to say that God will save you or some crap like that. I needed a non-religious reason too. It's not going to change all at once... but if you just keep going, keep surviving, things WILL get better sooner or later.
OP, university is not the end of the world. DItch this place, its Waterloo you don't like, not your life. Go home, go to Japan, you just need to get outta Waterloo. You can always kill yourself later, so why do it before you give life outside of Waterloo a chance.
are you a girl or a boy?
ReplyDeleteKilling yourself may cause you to die...

ReplyDeleteHow old are you? If you're something like 19-21, it's not hard to re-establish yourself...very easy actually unless you're terminally ill or something

ReplyDeleteI don't even know you guys personally, but I don't want anyone hurting themselves and taking their lives away!
There are things that can be done to change up your pace of life!!
Time to change your life. Little changes remind me that I have the capacity to change something about myself or my attitude...anything really.
