WTF: I'm just so depressed. I don't have the energy to study at all. I'm going to be really disappointed when I see some of my grades at the end of this term.

  1. So then try to resolve your issues so you can study. Even if that means going to see a counsellor.

  2. Join the club. I'm sure you're in the same boat as at least half of UW especially with this energy deprived campus

  3. This happened to me before when my relationship ended right before exams.

To cope I ate a lot of donuts and listened to house music almost exclusively. I find it also helped me to study in public so I felt less inclined to slack off. Don't bring your computer anywhere, just study from the texts and notes—you'll have no way to procrastinate if you don't bring any distractions with you to your study space.

Being depressed now isn't worth throwing away your whole term. Just power through your exams and be depressed during the break. I know it is harsh but this is what my mom told me and it actually helped me. I hope you can get it together and study.

  6. Hang in there, guys. It's crunch time, but that doesn't mean life has to suck.

    Here's what I do:
Once in a while just do something for yourself and don't let anyone take it away from you. For example, I take Wednesday nights off and just chill out. Maybe play some games, go for a jog, make a nice dinner for myself... just things that I like to do, and no work involved. It's really helped me over the years.

As for studying, you have to find your learning style. Experiment with various conditions and see how you learn, you'll surprise yourself. I used to study with music, but now I find that silence and no computer is how I learn best. Or, ironically, when I explain/teach the material to someone else. See what works for you... good luck.

  7. Not OP here, but I'm the same way. Even when I try to study with no distractions, I still can't focus because I always just start thinking about my ex.
