So many people are making posts about the 2.50 they'll have to pay for sound FM, but what about the 50 bucks a term that will not be paid off for 20 years with the new buildings?!

  1. a new building would benefit students because the student services would be moved into it. now one could argue back and forth to the death about who should pay for it but i'm going to be blunt. UW won't pay for it, the only way students get a student services building is if they pay for it. So ask yourself do you want the building, if you do you may as well vote yes. Also, did you know you just stopped paying for the SLC? Did you know students paid for the construction of FED Hall? What about CIF? Yes students built that one too. It's not uncommon for students to pay for buildings to be built on our campus.

As for Radio. Let's see, most radio stations survive without a student fee. Also who the hell listens to radio, and if you are listening to radio there are better stations to listen to.

  2. I think at this point a new residence would benefit the students more. Cramming 3 people into REV? Give me a break.

  3. the payments for the buildings also dont start until they are completed, which is in a few years. so whats the harm in saying yes?

  4. I'm pretty sure that
1- they stopped cramming 3 people into REV
2- those rooms were apparently popular

but i'm also cognizant that i could be wrong

  6. i don't care how much it costs (within reason) i just want the university to expand... as long as it is in the tecnical feilds (math, engineering, science, cs)... but a general complex? meh, i'll take what i can get

  7. I think we could definitely use a new residence. Even with the first year guarantee I almost didn't get a spot in time, because I was apparently waiting for someone else to cancel before I had a spot. Plus there are tons of transfer students and upper year students who I'm sure would love a spot in res!

And why does it matter if we expand solely in technical fields? Any sort of quality expansion should be applauded.

BTW I definitely voted no for those new buildings. Waste of money. We shouldn't have to be charged for new buildings.

  8. We don't NEED more construction on campus.

Also, why the lack of centrality of the new student building? That's ridiculous. I never go to that end of campus. Just another building addition to make us look good and grand? I'll pass.

I don't mind the extra 10$ for Health Services, because THAT should be bigger to accommodate our student body.

And the radio station should have the opportunity to succeed just as much as any other on campus group does, so why not give them that chance? 2.50$ isn't 50$. Besides, it's refundable, so if you REALLY want your 2.50$ back, just go pick it up at Feds, but you can kiss that 50$ goodbye for good.

  9. I thought the radio already had the chance to succeed previously and they blew it?

We're supposed to be an "innovative" and technologically-driven school, why couldn't we focus on something a little more modern and not dying out?
