Seriously. Let's talk about the referendum results.

  1. nvm, I found it.

I don't really like how the president still plans to push the student services complex... we just voted it down.

  2. The university should take the 30 years of music history from the station and give it to their Stratford Media campus.

  3. the problem with our school is that a lot of people don't see any benefit in social richness. I'm sorry :(

  4. "Don't people WANT more modern buildings with more study space?"

The university should build it with the shitton of money they already have rather than burdening undergrads with a tuition for 20 years; if they can get the government to fund another math building for grad students and shit maybe they can do something for the undergrads they're bilking the most money from.

  5. I'm so with you guys. Why do they have to charge us for everything? We're already paying an arm and a leg in tuition as it is.

  6. Just so that everyone knows...

UW's budget is running a DEFICIT!

That means, even if UW wanted too, they couldn't build the building out of their own money. If you're curious UW built the SLC and CIF with student money collected through the same fee that would have been increased for the Student Services Complex (keeping in mind that the fee for the SLC has recently ended).

  7. Theres a difference between the slc, the cif, and the ssc. The first two were to provide necessary services not currently on campus: a hub for student life and adaptable althletics-focused space (the PAC definately lacked in adaptability, and it was missing quite a few amenities). Secondly, they were built for the students for reasons completely unrelated to university studies. The SSC is completely different. It's a pre-emptive strike designed by the university in response to the increased demand on their already overstretched academic services expected from their efforts in increasing enrolement as per the Sixth Decade Plan. These are academic services the university is obligated to provide to remain competative in the Ontario post-secondary market. To put it basically, the existance of thbis building will do nothing but benefit the University's bottom line. We didn't ask for all the extra students, and we dont want them: they will only serve to worsen our already below-average student-faculty ration, among other consequences. We shouldn't have to pay to make sure they can still get the services the university needs to provide them.

  8. last poster makes a lot of sense. And why is UW's budget running a deficit? How is that even possible? Where are they putting all of their money?

  9. UW has the lowest operating budget per student, as deemed by Macleans.
For those of you who don't know what that means, it means that of all the surveyed Universities in Canada, UW spends the least on students.
    Yeah.
    Get pissed.
