WTF: Moggach and Best visited my class. I was impressed by their posters, but actually hearing them speak guarantees I will not be voting for them.

  1. Did anyone actually read Nikki Best's imprint column? It was laughable to say the least. It was like she was trying to be the next carrie bradshaw but she had nothing whitty, insightful or useful to say. That being said the Jenna Goodhand stuff is pretty off-putting as well. I think I will probably just decline to vote for either of them... Better candidates next time UW!

  2. She's still got my vote.

I've listened to all the debates, and she really knows what she is talking about. It's too bad she didn't portray that in 2 minutes of your class to you.

And for the record, I liked her column too. She clearly didn't write it for popularity. There's always a message in there.

But why do I even try to defend her? you people are all so cruel and mean regardless.

  3. OP here: I was put-off by her blab about transit. She claims we spend SO much money and we should be given better than the sub-standard service we have. Firstly, GRT does a decent job considering the resources it has at its disposal. Secondly, for a urban area this size, the transit system isn't bad (consider Durham Region, London Transit, etc). Thirdly, $50 something a term is not lots of money, considering how TTC metropasses are over $100 a MONTH. Until our U-PASS costs us $150+ a term, I think she will be making a fool of herself by demanding GRT improve service. ~$1.15M/term isn't whole lot.

I also like how she was preaching her bullshit to a Planning lecture. ;)

  4. UMMMMMM... Maybe you have been blessed with the magical bus that never fails you, but GRT is fucking shitty dude.

The route I am on is crowded, slow, late, missing sometimes.... it's brutal. I just walk most of the time because I can't get on the bus when it actually DOES come.

So, anyone who wants to work to renegotiate the contract with them for better service, is doing a service to the students. I want better bus services. I demand it!

  5. And you're not voting for Nikki and voting for Goodhand... who has done what?

  6. Moggach has been in my class and actually made relevant points that will fix some of the shit us students have to deal with.

  7. GRT is fucking terrible for EVERYONE. They're not gonna improve the service for students just because she talks to them about it. Unless she's planning to offer each of the bus drivers a bribe.

  8. ^ Exactly. A lot of the problems associated with the GRT are because of the sharp increase in ridership after the introduction of the u-Pass. Surely an iXpress would not be packed past safety standards if everyone had to pay $2.50

Busses fill up. Deal with it. Getting left behind sucks, of course, but unless they actually get more funding (much more) to be able to run busses at shorter intervals, demanding it because we pay $50/term isn't going to make it happen.

The fact the whole region is Conservative dominated, federally and provincially, probably isn't helping.

  9. I whole-heartedly agree with the first comment. Her articles were what contributed to making Imprint the joke that it still is. The only articles that are half decent are the ones that are written by Suhkpreet.
Anyway, GRT sucks but it's not as bad as it could be. All her blabber about it is irrelevant. She's not going to actually make change where it is concerned regardless of the promises. And frankly, I have listened to the debates and I'm sure those 2 minutes of class just saved them having to listen to longer debates that would leave the same bad taste in their mouth.

  10. I just remember a drunk Moggach telling me to take my shirt off in first year. Voting for him would be a joke

  11. He was in first year two and a half years ago. How is that even relevant? And the better question is, did you do it?

  12. I hope Nikki doesn't have to see this. She's a nie person who doesn't desrve this type of thing. I know she would never do it to other people, so it's pretty disappointing to see people sink to a low like this.

If you never liked her column, why didn't you email her when she was writing to tell her to make it better or WHY you didn't like it?

If you had a problem with the bus proposal, why wouldn't you put you hand up and speak face to face?

You're all a bunch of useless cowards. Shame on you all.

  13. If you want to run for politics and be in the public eye you have to be willing to stand up to critism... its part of the job. Everyone is allowed to have their opinions on their past work experience and current platforms. It's called democracy.

  14. I think GRT is pretty convenient. Of course, I live right on King. If you live in the 'burbs and try to catch a bus here: good luck!

  15. All the candidates just lost one of their friends unexpectedly. I think we should lay off them for a day or something.

  16. Instead of having a problem with a platform, and then trying to contact them to try and get them to change it... how about I just not vote for them? Isn't that the point of democracy? Voting or not voting for who you choose, instead of trying to convince politicians to see things your way?

  17. 8:31 - actually Nikki would do that to someone because she did it to me countless times. And she never had the courtesy to say it to my face so it's not fair to demand that people do the same. Besides, the other posters are right. If this is the type of field you want to get into you need to deal with people being against you or you'll never make it. If you don't think that Nikki can handle this then I really don't think I can vote for her because she clearly wouldn't be able to handle her position and I was actually going to vote for her too. I completely understand people wanting to defend their friends but you need to be careful that you're not just attacking the poster and that you're actually provide reasons for why they should change their mind. Otherwise you may be doing more harm than good.

  18. Are you alleging that Nikki wrote anonymous things about you on the internet 12:04?

I bet that all these things about Nikki are from the same person.

  19. i applaud you 2:02. that's a really stand up argument.
you need to learn to accept the fact that people have a shared opinion that doesn't agree with yours. it's called life.
i agree with 12:04. instead of screaming "troll" like a 12 year old why don't you actually provide us with a reason to change our opinion and possibly our vote.

  20. I fucking love the internet. That is all.
