WTF: I can't believe I took incompletes in 3 out of my 4 courses. I feel like the biggest university failure ever.

  2. you have to search the undergraduate calendar here:

  6. that is absolutely dismal...I'm curious as to why you did so dreadfully, unless you've got a damn good reason you might as well pack it in b/c university clearly isn't for you.

  7. yeah, drop out unless you're in upper years. you're toast. changing programs/faculty might not even help you

  8. doesn't getting incompletes mean that you didn't finish or do all the required components of a course? in that sense, it's worse than getting failing marks, because INCs mean that you didn't even try...

  9. hmm, i think that if you fail more than 2 courses in a term, you're kicked out. You can only come back after 8 months. If you fail one course and your average is still above the min req. for your program, then it's ok. Otherwise, you go on probation, which means you have to get your average up in the next term or else you get kicked out. I don't think you can switch programs if you're on probation either. You should check with your advisors. They're nice people and don't judge you.

  10. 9:05 is wrong. You can fail two or more courses and continue on. There are conditions and you will be on probation, but it all depends on your program. (i.e. you'd be kicked out in engineering for failing two courses).

  11. not sure why you fail courses unless you're in a legitimately difficult program like AFM, some engineering, etc

  12. how about if you fail two courses and you're in arts? but those two courses are just electives (not electives needed for arts degree -as you've taken those and passed) but just two other extra electives you wanted to take -and just ended up failing. But you passed the courses required for your program. do you go on some kinda probation or what happens?

  13. ^ to prevent being kicked out, and to stay in your faculty, as long as you meet the minimum requirements for arts (65% arts average and 60% overall average), you *should* be fine. i know a few years ago, if you fail 4 courses within 2 terms then you'll be required to withdraw. but you're only asking about 2.

and all that about "extra electives" or not: uhh i'm assuming you mean that these 2 courses you failed are in arts but they don't fulfil any sort of breadth requirement because you've already fulfilled them? it doesn't matter - they'll still be counted toward the averages.

and academic probation just means that you have 1 school term to pull your grades up from that offending term.

so at the end of the day, to prevent being failed out of arts and thus failing school, the very minimum you need is 65% arts and 60% overall, not considering the requirements you need for your major/minor. of course, i'd ask the advisor just to make sure, though.
